Former Syracuse football recruit Bryce Gowdy who was hit and killed by a train died by suicide, according to CNN.

Gowdy, 17, was hit by a train early Monday morning in Deerfield Beach, Florida. The Broward County Medical Examiner’s Office has ruled his death a suicide, CNN reported. He was days away from starting college at Georgia Tech.

As a four-star wide receiver, Gowdy was ranked as the No. 54 player at his position and No. 310 in the country. Syracuse University made his final list of schools but picked Georgia Tech.
