After the offensive line was looking shaky, the Lions opened up free agency by agreeing to sign former Eagles offensive tackle Halapoulivaati Vaitai. Or more simply put, Big V.

While most people are still trying to figure out how to pronounce his name, I put together V facts on the Lions’ first big free-agent signing (see what I did there?)

Let’s start with this tweet on how to say his name right:

(1,000 blessings and 3 rolls of toilet paper to Michael Kist for this)

I.  Vaitai was taken in the 5th round of the NFL Draft in 2016.  He played for TCU in college.

II.  Vaitai started 20 regular-season games and 4 postseason games, including the Super Bowl LIII for the champion Eagles, at both tackle and guard.

III.  He met Jason Peters at a mall in Dallas while he was in college, who told him to work hard and he’ll be in the NFL. He ended up replacing Peters in the Super Bowl.

IV.  He eventually wants to work in the Department of Homeland Security.

V.  He has two brothers: Kevin and Will. His odd name comes from his Samoan ancestry.

(Thanks to Zach Berman for the facts!)
