LeBrun: NHL weighs options for this year’s draft, assures Montreal another chance – The Athletic

The Montreal Canadiens have been assured by the league that they will get the chance to host the NHL Draft again in the next couple of years, and while the formation of this year’s event has yet to be determined due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, there are some intriguing possibilities.

Steve Mayer, the NHL’s Chief Content Officer and all-around NHL events guru, said the Canadiens were terrific when it came time to officially postpone the June 26-27 event. 

But now it’s time to come up with other options. 

“We went to Montreal and they were awesome,” Mayer said over the phone on Thursday. “Nowadays, everyone understands that this is the way of the world (with the coronavirus crisis). 

“Listen, we’re going to look at three options with the draft.’’
