Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts will wear the number he wore at Alabama and not the number he wore at Oklahoma on his NFL jersey.

The second-round draft choice announced on Wednesday night that he would wear No. 2 for the Eagles.

Hurts wore No. 2 during his three seasons at Alabama. He completed his college career at Oklahoma at 2019, when he finished No. 2 in the Heisman Trophy voting while wearing No. 1 on his Sooners jersey.

Hurts also wore No. 2 while playing for Channelview High School in Channelview, Texas.

The Eagles selected Hurts with the 53rd choice in the NFL Draft on April 24. Philadelphia has a player who wears No. 1 already on its roster – punter Cameron Johnston – but did not have a No. 2 until it was claimed by Hurts.

Philadelphia has not announced the numbers for its full rookie class yet. The Eagles also drafted two Auburn offensive tackles – Jack Driscoll and Edgewood Academy’s Prince Tega Wanogho – and former Athens High School wide receiver Quez Watkins of Southern Miss.

Tua Tagovailoa, the quarterback who moved Hurts out of his starting position at Alabama, went to the Miami Dolphins with the fifth pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. He has announced that he will wear No. 1 for the Dolphins, and Tagovailoa’s jersey has been the best-seller at NFLShop.com since he joined Miami.
